Guitar

Juliana's husband Tom teaches children and adults beginners-intermediate and advanced guitar. He teaches both classical and acoustic guitar.

Children are encouraged to buy the 'Starting Guitar' book by Matt Scharfglass. This enables them to play along to a modern backing track which they love, it gives them a real sense of accomplishment when they can hear themselves creating great sounding music in the early stages.

Adults playing level will be assessed and then together you will find suitable material.

Examinations are available with Both ABRSM and Trinity Rockshool. Lessons are taught from their home or he may be able to travel to your house at an additional cost.

Theory

Music theory tuition is taught as part of your lessons but often there isn't sufficiant time to dedicate to this.

Music theory is the study of the language and notation of music including composition.

Tom is able to offer additional theory lessons on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis to fit in with your current practical lessons. As I am sure most of you know once you have taken Grade 5 practical you need to have passed Grade 5 theory in order to progress with your instrument.

Theory lessons can also be taught ont their own as understanding music is important in itself you will find you can develop on your chosen instrument quicker with knowledge of music theory.
